Flycam Settings
From TreetWiki
For filming in 3D spaces, the best camera device is the 3D Space Navigator (http://www.3dconnexion.com/ ).
It is a standard USB device - think of it as a 3D mouse. It has 6 axis of control that you can configure for your own filming purpose.
First, plug in the Space Navigator and the Second Life viewers should recognize it as a Joystick. To configure:
Go to your Preferences area. In the tab for "Input & Camera" or "Movement", find the dialog for Joystick or Other Devices setup. Make sure the joystick is enabled. In the column for Flycam, there are 6 values to control the sensitivity of the SpaceNav. First, set the SpaceNavigator Defaults button to re-set all values for the Flycam column to:
- X: 2.0
- Y: 2.0
- Z: 2.10
- Pitch: 0.10
- Yaw: 0.15
- Roll: 0.00
Here are some examples setting for common filming scenarios.
For typical filming of no or slow action (like a talk show):
- X: 0.50
- Y: 0.50
- Z: 1.0
- Pitch: 0.10
- Yaw: 0.15
- Roll: 0.00
For typical filming of fine detail and slow pans (like a fashion show):
- X: 0.20
- Y: 0.20
- Z: 0.75
- Pitch: 0.10
- Yaw: 0.15
- Roll: 0.00
For typical filming of super-fast action(like a car race):
- X: 10.0
- Y: 2.0
- Z: 10.0
- Pitch: 0.10
- Yaw: 0.50
- Roll: 0.00
Of course your mileage may vary with these settings and you should adjust the basic X Y & Z settings to meet your filming requirements. With practice, they will become second-nature.
